Leden van maatschappelijke groepen houden spandoeken om de doodstraf te veroordelen tijdens een demonstratie voor het Ministerie van Justitie in Tokio op 26 juni 2014. Japan voerde op 26 juni haar eerste executie van het jaar uit door een man op te hangen voor een drievoudige moord, de negende gevangene die ter dood is gebracht sinds de conservatieve regering van Shinzo Abe aan de macht kwam in 2012.
